About Richardson & Copp
Alastair Copp and Malcolm Richardson have been in partnership and dealing in stamps since 1975. They are based in Oxted, Surrey where they have had a shop now for 40 years. Richardson & Copp are long term members of the Philatelic Traders Society.
They have travelled the world, attending most major international stamp fairs, notably Amphilex in the Netherlands in 1977, followed by Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaya, U.S.A, Australia, Canada and most of the major European stamp fairs. During this time, they have built up a comprehensive philatelic knowledge backed by a large stock of British Commonwealth stamps and postal history.
Alastair’s interests lie with British Empire and Commonwealth stamps. The stock ranges from the early issues of Queen Victoria through Edward VII, George V, George VI and to Queen Elizabeth II (pre 1970 issues only).
Malcolm takes responsibility for the Postal History, specializing in Aero Philately, including Zeppelin, Crash and early Flight Covers.
In addition, they have varying stock levels of Stamps and Postal History for other Western European countries such as Switzerland, France and Germany.
You will find them at the following shows:
- The Strand Stamp Fairs in London
- The Bi-Annual York Fairs at the Racecourse Grandstand
- Stampex in London
- South of England Stamp Fair & Sussex Convention at the Ardingly Showground.
For the dates of these fairs, see our News section.

BUYING AND VALUATIONS
If you are looking to sell a collection of stamps or covers, we offer a free valuation service.
We are primarily interested in buying early Commonwealth stamps and Postal History Covers, providing they were issued prior to 1971. That is the pre decimal stamps.
Regretfully, we do not sell or purchase bundles of odd stamps, post 1960 First Day Covers and modern Great Britain.
Various factors are taken into account for valuation purposes. Stamp collectors look out for:
- Condition of the stamps: are they fresh in colour, not toned or damaged in any way?
- Have they been mounted with a hinge or stuck on to paper? Or, if used the attractiveness of the cancel / postmark.
- The country of issue and the type of album they have been stored in.
- The completeness of the set including the higher top value stamps i.e. not individual values from a variety of countries.
Contact us by email alcopp@hotmail.co.uk or phone +441883 714082 to discuss and arrange a viewing.
